The Amanda Foundation employees work diligently every day, but we couldn’t keep the Foundation running without the aid of our wonderful volunteers!

Volunteer: At Our Shelter

We ALWAYS need volunteers for the following activities:
* Walking dogs
* Socializing puppies
* Socializing cats and kittens
* Participation in Fundraising Events

In order to become a dog-walking volunteer with the Amanda Foundation you are REQUIRED to attend a New Volunteer Orientation, which is held the FIRST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH at 11 am in the Amanda Foundation reception, unless otherwise specified. To attend the orientation you must:
* Be at least 18 years of age
* Wear closed-toed tennis shoes
* Bring a valid photo id.

If you are not 18 years old, but would still like to help the Amanda Foundation, you can participate in our “CAN YOU FEED A RESCUE DOG” program!

Why volunteer with Amanda?

* You can come when you like, as often as you like, between the hours of 10 am and 6pm, 365 days a week!
* Your time truly the makes a difference to our adoptable orphans! Every minute you spend with a dog or cat makes that animal more social, and therefore more adoptable!
* It does a heart good! Spending time with the animals is not just beneficial for the critters, it makes YOU feel good, too! After all, who doesn’t enjoy a good puppy kiss?!

Volunteer: Donate Supplies

  • Cans of Wet Dog Food (Iams Ground Formulas are great!)
  • Lysol/Bleach/Pinesol
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Large Plastic Garbage Bags
  • Paper Towels

Volunteer: Under 18

Do you want to volunteer with the Amanda Foundation, but are not yet 18 years old?

Participate in the Amanda Foundation’s “Can You Feed A Rescue Dog” program!

This project doesn’t cost you anything, you can do it all yourself ( you don’t need adult help) and you’ll be surprised at how much stuff you will collect for our orphans.

Here’s what you do:

Make a flyer. You can use ours (click here to download it) or make your own. Then staple the flyer to paper grocery bags you get from the store. On a Wednesday leave the empty bags with the flyer stapled to them on as many neighbors front doors as you want. You could 10 or 100 as many as you like. Your flyer says that you will be back Saturday before noon to pick up the bags (with the donations in them).

Lots of people have dogs of their own and don’t mind giving you a can of dog food, or if they don’t have a pet, a roll of paper towels. It doesn’t sound like a lot but it really adds up. The money we don’t spend on food & supplies we can use for the many medical and other expenses needed to care for our rescued pals.

We ALWAYS need:
  • Cans of Wet Dog Food (Iams Ground Formulas are great!)
  • Lysol/Bleach/Pinesol
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Large Plastic Garbage Bags
  • Paper Towels

When you have finished your project, call us and set up a shelter visit/puppy photo session at The Amanda Foundation. You will keep track of the hours your project has taken you and we will give you a signed certificate for those of you needing scholastic-oriented community service hours.

This is a great way to fill that requirement!
